The rich flavours of the duck are amplified by its tangy plum sauce. Catalan cream, chocolate mousse and toffee orange is a serious dessert lover's dish. You can't really ask for more."

Winestate Special Edition, January 2012

Barking Owl 2011 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon ****

Sweaty gooseberry aromas and nicely textured palate driven by tropical sav blanc characters with balancing sweetness and a long finish.

James Halliday, The Australian, November 2011

Top 100 Wines

Millbrook 2011 Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc

This Perth Hills winery is owned by Peter Fogarty, along with Deep Woods in Margaret River, Smithbrook in Pemberton and Lake’s Folly in the Hunter Valley. Pale straw-green, the bouquet offers lifted passionfruit and tropical aromas, but is overshadowed by the notably intense palate, adding ripe citrus and grass/herb flavours; very good balance and length. Remarkable value for money. 96/100

SCOOP, Summer 2011

2010 Millbrook Limited Release Chardonnay – GOLD 18.8

Winemaker Damian Hutton is quietly achieving great results in the Perth Hills Millbrook winery. This wine, crafted from a single vineyard in Geographe, is a case in point. Natural fermentation in oak plus lees stirring has resulted in a textural wine of impressive intensity, which shows complex aromas of oatmeal, toasted nuts and gunflint.

Winestate, May/June 2011

Best of the West

2009 Millbrook Viognier ****

Big up-front varietal that is full, ripe and very rich, with a lovely unctuous, visceral texture and exhibiting some alcohol heat.

2009 Millbrook Limited Release Viognier ****

Real persistence and intensity of warm, mushy apricot and ripe peach varietal fruit. Lovely visceral mouthfeel with balancing phenolics.

2009 Millbrook Limited Release Chardonnay *****

Another intense and complex chardonnay exhibiting power and richness with very good depth of varietal fruit aromas and flavours all nicely underscored by some great cashew-like oak.

2009 Barking Owl Shiraz Viognier ««««½

Beautiful wine – great colour and lovely rich, ripe sweet blackberry aromas with a spicy edge. Palate offers a big mouthful of black jube flavours and excellent tannin structure.
